Helping You In Preventing Acai Scams
Acai berry is a wonderful fruit that is now being sold as a supplementary health product. It is being sold by many retailers both from stores and online through the Internet. With the growing demand for Acai products, some merchants are using this as an opportunity to trick and scam consumers. The Acai scam is well known, but how does it work?
Many retailers offer free trials of Acai products at low prices in order to attract potential customers. However, they will only accept payments by credit cards. Once these retailers have the credit card information they would charge additional money every month without the permission of the customers.
In many cases where these Acai product scammers are involved, the customers usually don’t know that these retailers will continue to charge monthly until the subscription is cancelled. And the procedure for cancellation of subscription is so complicated and tedious that before the consumer can cancel it, a large sum of money is already swindled by these retailers.
Since many legitimate Acai product retailers are affected due to the bad reputation that these scammers are causing, Visa has shut down over 100 acai scammers. According to William Sheedy, Visa’s group president, they have decided to do this because of the growing numbers of complaints that they are receiving from consumers regarding the scams. Hopefully, this will help bring back the trust of consumers to Acai products.
