Ares Connect: Now I Love Ares Even More
Ares Galaxy is one of those pieces of software that I just couldn’t do without. I love sharing music and Ares makes it both possible and easy. I’m no computer expert, so figuring out how to do this stuff without help would be pretty much impossible.
Unfortunately, though, lots of people seem to be of a similar opinion. While this is great news in terms of the variety and quality of the downloads I can get, it does mean that there is a lot of traffic when I try to connect to the Ares network.
Sometimes it works just fine, but others I can be waiting 10 or 20 minutes for a connection. Once I get there, it sometimes gets dropped and I’m left hanging with a half finished download. Very frustrating, I’m sure you’ll agree.
A friend of mine told me about the Official Ares site. I downloaded Ares Vista from there as it seemed to claim to solve the problems I was facing. In fact the software is much better than Ares Galaxy, and I’m glad I made the switch; unfortunately there is still an occasional problem with latency. I figured that there must be a solution to this, and I got my Google searching fingers at the ready.
The application I discovered was called Ares Connect. Ares Connect is a nifty little utility that bolts on to many versions of Ares and simply helps Ares connect to the network; no more waiting, no more frustration.
How does Ares Connect work? I have no idea. Frankly I’m not interested in that side of computers: so long as I can download music then I’m happy. Fortunately, Ares Connect allows me to do just that.
